Cromwell-Phoenix VCI Paper
Tom Colligan, Peoria
>The last L-N tool I bought came boxed and wrapped in this company's Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) paper. Since the telephone number of the company is cited I called and spoke to a marketing rep. about their product.
I learned that the paper is impregnated with their proprietary product that has an electrical charge to it. When it comes near to bare metal it will displace the oxygen on the metal.
Unfortunately, the rep. emphasized that this paper will only perform its purpose on bare metal and not on metal that has a film of oil, wax or anything else on it. But in the right setting, i.e. in a closed box, the paper will go on performing its purpose almost indefinitely.
