That is basically the idea I have. Rather than use an L cutter as per Stanley/Veritas, I envisage one closer to the OWT straight blade type. I have been playing around with a couple of Japanese dovetail chisels (since these have the triangular shape needed to hold in the router collar - but still need a shim as they are not thick enough), and plan to grind a couple of hex keys to the shape I want.

The idea of a scratch stock type blade looks interesting, might have to try that.
