The 12 days of January

Joe Rogers, Northern Virginia

>Are all that seperate us from enjoying the annual drive through meet in Northern Virginia. All area woodworkers(power and hand tool) are invited to join in the breakfast meeting in Springfield Virginia on Saturday morning the 21st. of Jan. at 9:00 or so. We gather at the Bob Evans Restaurant. It is right off the I 95 exit at Springfield heading West on Old Keene Mill Road and then the first right as you make the exit. I will add more details in another post as CRS has set in about the exit number and the street names past Old Keene Mill :-( Any questions will be answered also.

This meet usually has between 8 and 12 gabbing and grinning about wood related stuff. Bring some neat toys for show and tell.

Hoping to see all the regulars and some new faces there.JR

Count Me In!!!!

Dave (Arlington, VA)

>Hi JR -

Still hoping to be there...but it's going to cost me big...two of the kids have basketball games that morning. I'm pretty sure I can work something out - and I'm looking forward to this get together. I have really enjoyed the ones from past years and look forward to seeing Dave Anderson and Jim Crammond (and any others) as they pass through town on the way down to Williamsburg... as well as any of our local folks (new or old).

Regards -

Dave

>As always Joe, I'm really looking forward to the breakfast meeting and getting to see old friends again. This time I'm staying in Philadelphia overnite with a friend and his wife so it'll be a early start for me to get there on time. I'm hoping for good snow, sleet, and rain free weather and an I95 free of State Troopers.

>I wouldn't miss this event for anything. I'm making a special trip down to the DC area just for the meeting. I'll probably drive down to Reston on Friday. There's a good chance my son will come with me.

>I'm planning on being there, too. I will be coming with Jamey Amrine (a fairly new denizon of the Island from Ann Arbor).

I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and some recent projects.

Looks like 10 to 12 so far.

Joe Rogers, Northern Virginia

>If there are any who plan on coming to the breakfast that need directions...

Take I95 South from the mixing bowl intersection of I95, I395, I495 in Virginia. If coming from I95 (Alexandria area) make sure to stay on the local exit lanes from the right most lanes not the I95 through lane skyway overpass that comprise the left lanes just past the Van Dorn Street exit.

Take the Springfield Rt.644 exit West onto Old Keene Mill road (exit 169). Once off the Interstate make a right hand turn to Bland Street. You can make any of the first 3 available rights to Bland Street. Turn right again onto Bland and follow it past Total Wine on the left. The street name changes to Agusta Drive but follow the road around the high rise building on the left as the road turns left. Bob Evans is just around the corner from Total Wines.

Looks like a good turn out. See you at 9:00 or so.JR

>Hi Joe,

I think I can manage those - no problem. :) Although I still need to get around to sharpening the saw. I might bring a couple of the spokeshaves I remade as well. Any other requests? Anybody? :)

>Is there anything in particular that anyone attending would like anyone else to bring? I'm sure we've all wanted to see tools that other members of the group have acquired, restored or made, but that the owner just forgot to bring for show and tell. Skip's tools and leatherwork are always interesting, as are the products of the Chester Tool Works. My memory is full of holes, and I forget about the things I've made that this group might find interesting, but haven't yet seen.
