Saw sharpening advice

Guy

>Hello folks, I recently picked up a beautiful old Disston backsaw at an estate sale and I want to sharpen it properly for use. I can't find anyone around here that sharpens handsaws so I will have to do it myself. I remember a while ago I read an article by a gentleman that was quite extensive on how to sharpen and maintain these old blades but can't seem to find that article anymore. Any advice on how to get info/how to procede? Thanks in advance, Guy

>Popular Woodworkings January 2006 issue, titled 'Hand Tools in the Modern Shop' has an excellent article on how to sharpen western saws, as well as a lot of other good info on hand tools in general. The article has very detailed step by step instructions, with pics.
