I'm answering your question. I think it doesn't matter because it won't effect what actually happens (or doesn't happen) in your shop. I'll go further to say I think there are lately many solutions to invented problems.

And just in case I haven't offended EVERYONE yet (I'm an equal opportunity offender)- the people here are plenty smart, but this sort of subject is in the realm of Master's thesis work. A simple test and a NASTRAN model couldn't answer your question. So I'm not sure what possible outcome we should expect from such a question. Leonard Lee might, MIGHT, have a feel for this.

So my advice is to skip the question and look for the answer in the taste of your own sweat.

P.S. The original statement was preposterous. Blunt edges are stronger edges.

One can hope, as you suggest that only the best areas of the "edge" mater to the cut, and that more granular effects for some reason don't print out. I think it is more realistic to assume it all maters, and something closer to the lowest comon denominator, or the worst case is going to be what one sees.

I have noticed higher performance on planes with fatter edges, and lower clearance angles, but there could be any number of reasons for that. I have one bevel down plane that is 35 degrees with a 6 degree clearance angle, and it works very well, hard to say why, too many variables.
