sneak preview (chisels)

Frank D. in Montreal

>Hi everyone,

I'm on the last stratch to completing my chisels. I used the burning in method to attach the handles, it worked like a charm, quick, easy and effective. I'll post another pic when the handles are shaped and the blades are sharpened.

Eau Bnite?

>Are you baptizing your chisels? Or, have you invented a "beer hardening process for tool steel? :-)

(Note to non-French speaking folks, "eau bnite" translates into "baptismal water". But in this case it's the brand of a beer sold in Qubec...)

Great job, Frank, are you coming to the OWA tonight?

>Hi Denis,

I do baptize my chisels with the holy water beer, and it also helps keep the vampires out of my shop (pesky little things).

No OWA for me this time, but I'll definitely try to make a few meetings next year! Rosewood Studio is on my list too.

>Woa, Frank!

I just went back to your mid November post to rediscover that you made the irons from raw stock, had them heat treated, polished them as we see in their current manifestation, and now have started fitting handles to them. As someone who drools over sets of Swan or Witherby, etc. chisels going out of reach on Ebay, I have to tell you that your approach to filling the need for great chisels is inspiring!

Thank you!

Greg
