>Does anyone have experience with the LN welded tail vise? I have one similar to the LV on my existing bench and am considering the LN as an upgrade for my new, inprogress bench.
Any thoughts?

Ellis: How are the workbenches coming along, Tom?
TLN: We have a small group of people working on benches. We've worked out most of the details. We plan to make our own hardware after the first of the year, not being happy with what I have been able to buy. our production will be small, but it's going to be steady. And they are beautiful

>Interesting piece. I wonder how it works. Seems to set the guide plate spacing for you, I hope that means the whole thing is tighter than usual, because a lot of these things have an unpleasant slop. I would prefer it to be adjustible and maybe lined with something like UHMW.

>I have the LN small tail vice, buy have yet to install it. I also have the Atlas tail vice as advertised in the Workbench book.
The vice sold by LN is very nice compared to the others I've seen. Much heavier, nice coarse threads, and easy adjustments. I think it was worth the extra money over the Atlas vice or the other vices I've seen. In fact, it was nice enough to convince me to buy the LN vice even though I already had the Atlas vice in hand.
I hadn't heard that LN was considering manufacturing their own line of bench hardware.

>Is atlas still stocking the vise hardware? I think I once saw one of those Atlas/Fortune/Landis benches at LN, but then maybe I am mixing that up with Masterpiece Tools.
