Lie-Nielsen #5 1/2 "Hybrid"

>Hi All,
I was just talking to someone about the L-N # 5 1/2. Now, I just bought one on the weekend with the York-pitch frog. I also have the 4 1/2, but with standard pitch frog.
When I use the 5 1/2 to flatten a panel, I'll most likely simply swap out the frogs, and go with the standard pitch. I'm assuming this will make the plane easier to push. Another thought just occured to me however.
That # 5 1/2 has a 2 3/8" wide blade; would it be possible to use a narrower 2" blade from a #5 in that #5 1/2, to make it even easier to push? Or am I just "splitting hairs" here? Are there times where this may be an atractive alternative? Lots of panels to flatten? Would the iron even fit?
Thanks, Bob
