poor man's panel plane

>guys, i just made a delightful discovery while on the quest to raising panels by hand! matthew teague wrote an article several months ago in fine woodworking about methods on raising panels. in it, he uses a stanley 78 to bevel the edges. i quickly ran over to my garage, whipped out the stanley 78 and started hacking away at a scrap piece of pine. it worked TREMENDOUSLY!!! the fence of the rabbet plane really helps in keeping the bevels STRAIGHT which is what i was struggling with when using either a jack plane or a stanley #10.
BTW, my mujingfang wooden moulding planes arrived yesterday (hollow and round pair) and they worked MARVELOUSLY once i figured out how to adjust the wedge and the iron. i'm sure that i'll be able to achieve the same results as i previously got with my router raised panel bit set.
another step towards complete ROUTER FREEDOM! woohoo!
