Happy Birthday Mr. Cronkerdoodle!!!!!!

Dave Anderson Chester,NH

>A good turkey day and a Happy Birthday to Todd Cronkhite.

It snowed this morning (only 2 inches though) and I lit off the wood stove in the shop for the first time since last winter.

I'm gonna be nice and not tell how old you are.

Thanks Gang! :~)

Todd O. Cronkhite Maine Native in FL. Exile :~(

>Dave: Thanks so much. You, and the rest of the gang really know how to make a guy feel special. :~) Was this 2" of new snow the first of the year? I miss a good woodstove fire, but a fire in the shop, well now, that's Bonus!, and it helps to "hide the evidence" eh? ;~)

Ted: I hope for many more too!

Denis: 44 candles

Bob: Which came first the Turkey or Todd

Well, on Nov. 24th 1961 I think it was a tie. My Dads Dad was born on Nov. 26th, so of coarse he wanted me to be as well. However, as Dad always said, "Thanksgiving fell on the 24th that year, and Todd smelled Turkey, so he came out to get some". the camera issue has been settled, the wife went to get me the Canon A520 this morning, but the store was out until tomorrow, so she paid for one today to be picked up tomorrow. Trust me, you'll learn how to post pics right along with me, just follow my threads. ;~) Hope you enjoyed the 'yards---Thanks, and Cheers to Ya'!

Jack: Yup got new toys. :~) Two large genuine Jake the Russian's holdfasts! These where orginally to be Christmas gifts, and the camera a B'day gift, but with the extra cost of the camera they have switched places. Man, do I ever like them too! What a pleasure it is to take a piece of wood, "lock it down" to the benchtop and have my way with it! Well worth the money and I'd encourage every Island Neanderthal to get a pair. Once when I was a wee lad my Grandmother put candles on the Turkey, which was really really cool. I'll never forget that. So no, I don't mind sharing my B'day with a 'bird a' tall.

Mike: My gosh, wasn't yesterday an absolutly beautiful day. Very similiar to a nice spring day in Maine. I spent the day in the shop making two hatchet handles. One was a replacement, and one was for a single bevelled head that I bought for $1 a few weeks without a handle. It now is a functional tool again, and think it pretty neat that it's "re-birth" was on my birthday. Had intended to change the plug wires on my S-10 yesterday, but than decided what better way to spend my birthday than by woodworking, so I changed the wires today, which was a carbon copy of yesterday.

Brad: no Turkey stone yet, but I'm getting close I think, reeeeeeeeeeeeal close!

Scott:

Brother, you ain't lyin'! :~( My feet have been killing me lately. Makes it hard to stand at my bench for 8-10 hours at a time now. :~(

Yesterday(and today) I spent alone left to my own devices. My wofe had to work on T'day and my daughter was off to her boyfriends familys T'day. I didn't mind it one little bit, in fact I perferred it, for what a way to spend your birthday but buy doing whatever you please with no outside distractions. Turkey and cake will be on Saturday. :~)

Thanks again guys,

Todd O.

44 now, but still feel 22 most of the time. :~)

>The snow was the first for us here in southern NH, but up north they've had snow for over 7 weeks. Wildcat Mountain opened for skiing over a month ago and Mt. Washington had over 6 feet in October alone. The small storm on Thanksgiving Day gave us the 2", but up north got up to 9". Having a fire in the shop wood stove is one of lifes great pleasures. Yesterday it got a little hot though (80) and I ended up opening one of the windows. As for burning errors, you should see how Gabon Ebony, Snakewood, Brazilian Tulipwwod, and some of the exotics burn when I've messed up a tool handle or when the wood cracks one me.

>Dude, I had no idea you were that old; I figured you were about 22. Someday we'll have to get together, and you can pretend to be my dad ;) Jake the Russian's hold fasts? I must be out of the loop here, as I am not sure what you are talking about, but holdfasts are definitely on my list for next year. In fact, I think if I cancel my FWW subscription right now, I might put that money towards some holdfasts.
