It's the Bob Smalser of Japan! *LINK*

>Wherein we see the thrilling exploits of an outwardly humble but skilled and revered tool repairer in Japan, working with basic tools to bring a damaged plane back to life. See the cracked kanna abutment! See the butterfly repair fitted! See the mouth tightened!
A Japanese seller on ebay posted a link to his photo page, and I found these ... Interesting. I assume that this process is simpler than fitting a whole new kanna to the back of the iron, and that there is also a desire, as here, to keep the old bits in service.
Presumably the text is also illustrative, but as I don't even have the characters installed, it could all be be nothing but ads for used Shopsmiths, for all I would know.)
(I tried to find a way to make this up to Bob by adding an image of the name 'Bob Smalser' here in katakana script, but no luck ... )
