Alan Peters miter plane device?

Paul Erickson

>In Rob Cosman's video on drawer making, he refers to a device that Alan Peters designed that aids in holding a plane when using it with a shooting board. I am having trouble finding out more info on it. Is anyone familiar with it, and could you help me out with the details?

cheers, Paul

>Firstly, I don't know what Alan Peters' device is. However, since no one has replied, I will have a guess.

I suspect that it is something like a fence on the outside of the runway, which is aimed at holding the plane against the sidewall of the shooting board.

Any other offers before we hear it from the horses mouth? Perhaps we make up a prize for the best or nearest (or silliest) guess?

Regards from Perth

>Is it in his book, did Rob mention where he saw it. He did seem to resumee pad just about every shop in the UK and US, so maybe he saw it when he worked with him?

>Hi Paul,

I believe the device Rob is refering to is some sort of Hot dog for his LN 5.5 which he is using on his shooting board.

I have watched DVD 1 of the two DVD set and it is very good so far

>Hi Dan,

Thanks for the reply. Pardon my ignorance, but what is a "Hot dog" in this context?

>The hot dog was designed for the #9 mitre plane allowing for a better shooting grip on with the plane.

Rob is using a LN 5.5 so I doubt he is talking about a true hot dog on the plane but he is refering to some osrt of device Allan Peter's probably used to help him grip the bench plane better while shooting.

Oh no, that would be Rob Lee's device for holding the plane on the shooting board, wouldn't it?
