Dovetail saw
Ty Partlow (York, PA)
>I have been wanting to try my hand at hand-cutting dovetails. I recently received what I was told was a dovetail saw, new & never used. After examining it a bit more closely, I noticed that the teeth are filed for crosscutting. Dovetail cutting is more of a ripping operation as I understand it. I would love to go by an Adria or Independence saw, but it isnt in the budget and I am a beginner. So my question is this, would it be OK to use the saw as is or should I take it and have it re-set & sharpened for ripping. I have heard a lot of good things about Cookes sharpening service here in York, PA and thought I would use them if I should get the saw redone. Thanks for the input
