Having watched them several times, and Rob's a couple times each:
They cover radically different subjects, Rob touches on sharpening, but obviosly a video devoted to the subject covers more.
David's were shot at Lie Nielson, and not by professionals. The pauses are a lack of pre-planned and rehearsed lines, more so than thoughts. It was a quick project to test the waters without spending a fortune.
After watching David's videos and heading out to the shop, you will do a better job, and you will have a bit more appreciation for your Stanley's. He uses a British made Stanley in videos 1 and 2, that can really sing.
Rob also happens to use some tricker wood and shows that you can make a gorgeous surface with straight 45 frogs on bird's eye maple with the correct settings and techniques.
There are two more Rob Cosman produced video's coming out this fall I think it was, one with Alan Peter's dovetailing a drawer and I think Rob is making a drawer making video as well.
