Wood ID
Wayne Anderson
>This summer I purchased some wood from an elderly gentleman who lives on an island in northern MN (during the summer months). Long story here, but maybe another time...
Among the pieces were two hunks of what I think may be Honduran mahogany. It's very light colored, with some salmon-colored streaks, and is quite heavy. (The one board is 2-1/4" X 8" X 7' long, and weighs well over 40 lbs.) The other board is only slighty narrower and shorter.
First, I would like to get it possitively IDed, then I guess I would like to know who may be interested in it. Luthiers, perhaps? I kinda doubt that it would be enough stock to make a cabinet, or whatever. I certainly have no plans to use it as infill...not enough color for me.
BTW...did I mention that it was cut over 60 years ago? I cut a short hunk off the end of the smaller one, so I could slice it up and send a sample to someone who would know. Would be nice to get it out of my garage, and in the hands of someone who could use it.
Thanks in advance...
