Lie-Nielsen quality control?
Kelby
>For my birthday (yesterday), my wife bought me a Lie-Nielsen No. 8. Great wife, great plane!
Unfortunately, the sides and sole have significant rust pits all over them. They aren't minor. It's absolutely not something you could fail to notice if you were packing this plane up to ship it.
The last plane I bought from Lie-Nielsen also had a problem --- a large nick in one corner of the sole. Again, it was significant enough that it wasn't something you could miss when you ship it.
Now, Lie-Nielsen's customer service is great, and I know they'll take care of this. I sent the last one back, and they replaced it without any problem. But when you are paying this much for a plane, you shouldn't have to return it. Especially not two in a row.
Am I the only one having problems with Lie-Nielsen's quality control?
