Info on Atkins saws?

Bill Houghton, Sebastopol, CA

>Is there an Atkinsonian Institute like the Disstonian Institute - an online history and info source for Atkins saws? This last weekend, I acquired my second Atkins 10" or so backsaw, slight differences in the saw nuts, and now I'm curious.

Google didn't help - I got a few passing references (including a most interesting history of Hamilton, Ontario, in which it was revealed that Atkins had a factory there, as well as its home factory in, if I recall correctly, Indianapolis), but WAY more information about how I can lose many pounds, increase my vim and vigor (and presumably sex drive), and regain my innocent youthful naivete with the Atkins diet.

I too have looked for more info on Atkins and all I have found is the link that Rick provided. If you find anything else, please let us all know.

Thanks,

>They list all kinds of handsaws, and not one but TWO "nests of saws," but the only backsaws are miter saws.

The two backsaws I've picked up (first one, a year or more ago; then the second one this last weekend, the only "score" of a Saturday morn's garbage saling) are later saws, based on the coarser, simplified handles. Nice little 10" or so, slightly larger than dovetail size, decently heavy steel backs painted black.
