eBay record plane? *LINK*

>OK, I doubt this is the all-time record, but I don't remember seeing one go higher than this. What a beauty, too. Doesn't look like it got any use, maybe it was a display from day one?

The bid history also shows the potential value of sniping - looks likely that the winner could have still won the plane but saved himself $2000 or so by sniping. Not certain, of course ... but likely.

Wishin' it wuz mine!

>Guess somebody wanted that plane quite badly eh? I simply see a carved plane, but the winner/bidders must of known something more about it than meets my eye.

At any rate, I'm curious about the bidding histoty. why is it that bidder "yolks" has 10 bids in a row? Looks like he outbid himself 9 times to me. This can't be right can it?

>No, he didn't. His 10 bids were lower than the winners maximum bid.

The seller should thank him. Incidentally, I agree with you, that is one ugly plane.

>Naw, 'volks' took a series of ultimately unsuccessful shots at the winner. When MTH put his bid in on 9/21, he became high bidder at $1250 (with his bid ceiling at or above $4150). The next day toollss took a coupla shots at him, after which MTH is still high bidder, but the bidding is now at $2160. Then the next day, volks comes in and makes 10 consecutive bids (including a 20-minute lemme-think-about-this break after 6 bids, before going to $3501), at the conclusion of which MTH is still high bidder, and now winner, at $4150. This is why MTH probably woulda still won the plane but saved himself thou$and$ by sniping - he would not have provided toollss and volks with such a high and early target to shoot at.

What's the news with the Maine property?

that is exactly why...

>I wait to the last second to make my bids now. Not always effective, about 98%, but it scored me a nice set of 4 Audel Carpentery books the other night. I hee'd and haw'd over them for a week, and when I pulled the trigger there was 9 seconds left in the auction. Was still kinda' surprised that I got them what with making my bid so early as I fiqured some sniper would get me at the 3 second mark, but I dodged that bullet.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the Maine Property fiasco. Well, it's over. dunno who got it, but it wasn't me. Called my mortage company and got pre-approved for $45,000 home eqity loan. told brother to raise the $5000 he'd need to lay on the table if he won, and to bid no more than 40,000. Auction was the 22nd, called Brother on the night of the 23rd, and he said that he didn't go to the auction because he had to go to the hospital, which I beleive was pure hogwash.

I'll get over this, assuming that I live to be about 250. It hurts lot, and what really causes most of the pain is that Dad told me this would happen when I talked him into giving it to Sister instead of me. I hear tell there is a little community over in Russiam where people live to be 120, I'm thinking of moving there, but only in an attempt to delay the A$$-chewing that a'waits me when I die.
