Norton water-stones/ European Handtools. *LINK*

Bob Dodge

>I recently ordered a set of four Norton waterstones(220,1000,4000, and 8000), all 8"x3" stones, 1" thick. Also a couple of Norton 8"x1" white wheels (60 grit, 150 grit) from European Handtools. I was a little concerned about possible damage in shipment. Well, yesterday those items arrived in pristine condition. Really nicely packaged. Price was very good, too. Service was great, and I'll be ordering a set of their "Two-Cherries" chisels shortly. Order was shipped immediately, and they even emailed me an order- tracking code when it shipped (Express Post). Definitely recommended.

You paid too much. . .

Tony Sade (Charleston, WV)

>Bob-Not to make you feel badly, more for those you may follow your recommendation --you paid almost $188 bucks for the stones, if I did the coversion from Canadian to US dollars correctly. The same set of Norton stones is available from The Best Things (www.thebestthings.com) for $149. The plastic container for one of the stones in my order came cracked, but they sent out another one promptly. I didn't check out the wheels.

Enjoy your goodies. Tony

>Hi Tony,

Actually, that conversion would be around $160. or a bit less$152.-$155. They also threw in plastic cases with each stone, no charge.

The white wheels were great. I had some already, but smaller width(3/4"), and European Handtools sold me the wide ones, for less than I had paid locally, for the narrower wheels, and coarser grits(40). European Handtools sold those for $27.95 Can. It's the best price I've seen on those.

They have the full selection of Two Cherries chisels as well, and I'll probably pick up a set. I'm holding off on that because my current chisels work fine, and I'm picking up a set of the Lie-Nielsens soon. As it is, I keep two sets razor-sharp, all the time. They do a good job, but I confess I get "weak-in-da-knees" for the Lie-Nielsens ;-)). I love the balance and feel. I find the price a lil' hard to swallow though. I sure hope they're worth it.

>Geesh Denis,

That show last year was bad enough expense-wise, it's the aftermath that worries me, lol. When I got home, I still had "da fever", and ordered a few more. Yikes. Just started with those last fall, and already, there's 12 boxes here, with Lie-Nielsen labels, and I'm just about to give Rob a call, for one more, JUST one more.;-))

You can bet yer booties I'll be saving my pennies for the show too. Hmmm, lemme see, L-N # 8, and chisels, mebbe a #9 mitre-plane ????(smirk) And don't forget, I still owe you a couple o' cold ones. Then I'll REALLY be weak-in-da-knees".;-))

Oh Ya!!

>I forgot, shipping was only $10. Can, for da whole shee-bang. That was Express post too. I thought that was really cheap, considering the total weight of that order. Delivered to my door in about 2 days or so.

>Thanks for your kind words, Bob. The recommendation from a satisfied customer is worth its weight in gold!

Nearly all orders are sent Expedited Parcel with a tracking number e-mailed to the customer. As a customer there is nothing worse than getting a good deal on the purchase of an item only to find that the shipping costs are outlandish. Usually our listed shipping costs do not cover the actual shipping costs.(You were charged $10 for shipping, but actual cost was $16!) We like to treat our customers the way we would like to be treated!

We hope to have the pleasure of doing business with you again! Many thanks!

Kind regards,

Darlene
