Hand Plane Indentification
RAGS
>Can anyone point me in the direction of indenifying some hand planes, my brother gave to me. He was given three hand planes, and sais he will not use them.
The first one is 6 1/4", is made of cast material and has stamped on it "Made in USA" no other markings seen.
The second is 7" and has stamped 217-16 with a number one below these numbers. The blade has stampped "Dunlap approved BL 619.3701".
The third is a Craftsman that is 9 1/2" long the blade is sharp on four sides and is 1 3/4" square. The body, including handles are alluminum. Markings are stamped CRAFTSMAN No 3740BL.
Any assistance would be appreciated. I have cleaned and flattned two of the three and intend to use them, I just want to know what their time frame is. The man my brother got them from must have had them a long time?
Thanks for any help, RAGS
