When hobbies collide...
Ross Canant
>I love it when I can put my woodworking hobby to use doing something else I enjoy. I spent the last couple of weekends putting together an observation beehive for my office. I'm a hobby beekeeper as well. It is connected to the outside via a plastic hose. The center pivot is also the entrance for the bees. I used cypress for the interior frame rests and soft maple for the outside. I hand cut dovetails on one end and used M&T on the other upright. I cut dados a couple of ways. One I cut with a backsaw, chisel, and Stanley #71 router plane. Another I cut with a backsaw and rabbet plane. I cut 1/4" bevels on all the sharp edges with a block plane and draw knife. I used the table saw for rips.
