>I picked up this little split nut Warrented Superior back saw and was wondering if it's a second line Harvey Peace. I know that Peace put one nut through the spine - but I think there was another manufacturer that did that too - Richardson I think. The medallion on it has Pat. Dec. 31, 1867 around the bottom. Any one have a conjecture as to the maker? Age?
And if you think the handle has a bit of a pinkish cast to it, don't adjust your monitor - someone had painted it a pinkish purple. I got a lot of it scraped off but there's no way I'll ever get it all off unless I take all the "patina" off. Something I don't intend to do.
