Saw steel on saws with impulse hardened teeth

>Somewhere in my misspent past I bought a back saw with impulse hardened teeth. (It's not really my fault - I just didn't know any better!) In any case the teeth on it are shot and I was wondering if anyone knows what quality of steel the rest of these saws typically are. Does anyone have any idea if the rest of the blade would likely make decent scraper material?
