>There is this neet tool at the auction house it was mounted to a short beem by the four crank wheels at the bottom. I'm thinking it might be for making the bottom of a mortice flat on beam construction for barns or buildings but not realy sure. the handle goes back and forth and the cutter is adjustable to any depth. it sure is one strange contraption. any ideas?

>I think it's a hinge mortiser. It clamps on to the door and cuts the hinge mortise.
I have no idea what it's worth, but if it were me, $10.00 doesn't sound like too much for a neat hand-operated machine.
