>Owner modified tools are not uncommon - I'd be surprised if this isn't one of them. The patina on an old tool altered early can make it seem to appear original.

>I think Tom is right and that this is an owner modified tool.Not 100% certain but looks like it was made from a Stanley 59 shave. I saw a while back a group of over dozen spoke shaves that i believe were owned by an old pattern maker and there were a few done up just like this one.Caused some confusion with all the bidders that had thier Stanley price guides in thier back pockets causing some no doubt to think they were some rare variations...Kind of interesting in that the one on ebay has a threaded hole in the one handle.Maybe a knob went on it original?....Kind of neat spoke shave but I think in the end you are still talking about a cut up tool ......
