Anyone know of Allen Durst?

>At a used-book sale this weekend I picked up two books on carving by Allen Durst, "Wood Carving" and "Wood Carving: A Studio Handbook". Published in the 30's and the 60's respectively, they look good, heavy paper and pretty pictures -- have not looked at the text much yet. Have any of you read these books?
