Dunbar's books on Windsor Chairs:

David Hammond, in Powder Springs GA

>What are the differences in the publications - were they just re-printed, or is there new and updated information in the '84 edition, as opposed to the '76? That book is expensive! And if the older version is the same, I'd just as soon have an older, worn copy, than pay a couple of hundred bucks for a new one.

Thanks.

David

>The two are completely different books. The new one is much better in just about every respect. However, even that one does not mesh with what Mike Dunbar currently teaches at the Windsor Institute in many of the operations. No one knows exactly what folks were doing 200 years ago, but there are more people making chairs every day, and this experience is building a new body of knowledge.

>David,

I have a "spare copy" of Langsner's chair book if you want it. Marietta ain't too far from Powder Springs.

>Don't forget your local library! I found both editions of Michaels book through our library network. I also took Mike's sack back class last June and his methods are continuously evolving. The class he teaches now is different then the one I origionaly attended. I am lucky in that I live close by and after you attend one of his classes you can audit that class any time in the future for free.

>JL: That would be fantastic! I really would appreciate the book; holler at me and let me know if you want to try and get together at your place, or mine, either way is good.
