Stripped screw in LA block plane

>I have a Stanley 65 with a stripped levercap screw. The threads in the casting have been sheared off. (You cant see that on eBay....)
Has anyone had success repairing this type of problem? I can't use a helicoil because the Stanley thread is an odd pitch (as in oddball)
Short of making an insert and pressing it in from the sole, I was thinking JB Weld. Has anyone used this stuff to repair damaged threads, and if so has it worked? I'm thinking of using the screw with wax on it to make the threads in the JBWeld.
Also I need a throat adjusting cam lever for this same plane, the one that mounts under the front knob. Anyone have a spare?
Thanks in advance,
Sandor
