>A rare plane ,[only a few known to exist apparently] though in rusty condition but with somthing like this when are you ever going to find a better one or for that matter any other one? I imagine anyway it is going to be "sent out" and next year will look about mint....I sort of collect Chaplin planes esp. thier block planes got maybe 10 or so.Kind of a neat design and they made a good many variations that you can look for which makes it fun.Think if I ever found one like the one on ebay It would go pretty quick into my good stuff cabinet!
I did enjoy where the seller of the plane said how he only paid a couple $ for it.Gives you faith that the big one might still be out there swimming around waiting for you......Todd , who had thought he did pretty well getting a $118 for a yankee brace last night
Hey Todd

>Todd,
Was you able to bring up the one I was talking about? Seems to me that you did as it was in fact VERY rusty.
$118! for a Yankee Brace? What was so special about it? Man, you're the only guy I know who could turn turds into Gold.

>I saw the chaplin plane on ebay the other day right befor it went off,[your links didn't work for me either]
The yankee brace was in excellent condition with most of it's finish and had the 1920s patent dates which makes me think it was pretty early, was a North bros of course not a Stanley and wasn't a Bell System. Was a 2100 which was the better finished of the two Yankee braces and was in the rather hard to find 8 in. size. I talked it up pretty good pointing all this out and how these braces are probably the best ever made [which I do think....well at least till I get a Millers Falls Parsons to sell!]. Truthfully I expected it to sell for $40-$50 , ["Books" for $40-$70] but I think it being a top of a line brace with some unusual features and in excellent condition put it over the top.......Todd
