Another Bow Saw Question

John Todd

>Recently purchased a Woodjoy bowsaw with japanese blades. Quality seems to be very good and the blades work wonderfully. I don't have the problems recently discussed in the other Bow Saw post over the weekend of the blades not tracking. The Woodjoy has a leather washer AND a brass washer. When the Brass washer is installed on top of the leather one, the handles rotate QUITE freely, without the Brass washer, the leather makes it rotate a little less easily which to me seems a good thing. Is there something I'm missing here? You want the handles to NOT rotate very easily, right? New to bowsaws...

>It depends on whether you are trying to saw a straight line or a complex, tight curve. Lots of different techniques and grips work well with the flexible, adaptable design of a bowsaw, depending on what your are trying to accomplish with it. For example, you can grip it by a handle or by an arm, cut on the push stroke or the pull stroke, cut with a one-handed or two-handed grip, etc.
