>I just got a couple of Spehar cap irons and found that the thicker width is taking the cap iron screw to the end of the threads. I'm going to add some thicker LV or Hock blades and fear that the threads won't be long enough to hold the cap irons to the new blades. Anyone else run into this problem?

>Did you use the screw that Spehar included with the cap iron? I have a #4 and #6, both with L-N aftermarket irons. I recently received two new cap irons from Spehar. I used the screws included with the Spehar cap irons and everything fit together just fine. That said, you may have problems if you try to use stock L-N irons (i.e. the .125 or thicker irons).

>I tried the cap screw that Spehar supplied with the stock Stanley blade and it works fine. I was just wondering if the slightly larger .095 blade would not allow enough of the threads to hold the cap on. I have not tried the cap iron with thicker irons yet and, therefore, was just speculating that it would be a problem. Thanks for the reassurance that it shouldn't be an issue.
