Summer eBay prices?

>I just made my first eBay sale (that second No. 75 I picked up recently). It went for noticeably less than other 75s in about the same condition have gone in recent weeks. Do prices drop dramatically after Memorial Day, or did I maybe market it wrong?

Ebay cycles

This week I had several things up for sale Coopers tools and a D8 some chisels. Coopers tools that sold went for opening price somthing I can live with the chisels went for about what I expected nice price over all. and the D8 made me happy about $22 a nice short ware time saw. I also had some stave patterns that only brought opening bid and had 14 people watching them? Some time I don't understand? I think I could have done better on the coopers tools at a local auction. where some time tools bring better than e-bay prices.

A no.75 plane is a low vaule and low demand common plane even on a good day and unless you get a couple new ebay bidders who are motivated bidders and want one probably a hard sell.I believe many sellers keep track of what things sell for and when they see something go pretty good they put thiers up which can lead to a flooded market and a lowering of the prices then. Other then this to get good prices on Ebay you need detailed descriptions that leaves nothing to the imagination as well as sounding like you know about what you are selling. Good photos that show all areas. Also I think one of the worst things that people do is start the auction off high instead of low with a reasonable reserve.
I always hear that this time of the year is worse or better, or this day is better to have an auction end, etc. etc. Can't prove it by me, I think I do very well all the time. Sure some things come and go but on the whole as a seller it's the best game in town I think. I know I would never go back to selling at shows ......Todd

If you go at a live auction and you see a plane that you are willing to go to $50 on and they hold it up and the auctioner says "$50?" do you bid right off the bat?...or do you wait till it comes down some or till sombody else bids. I think most people wait till it starts off lower and then go from there. Also if they see other people bidding it tends to make them think "hmmmm this must be good all those other people want it too"...or they get competive "I'm bidding higher because I don't want to loose it to them". On ebay the more people you get to bid on your item the better even if they don't hit your reserve because of this....Todd

There is a game I like to play though. I try to see how close I can come to the maximum price without actually buying the darn thing. In one case I managed to triple the price in the last 2 minutes.

I just can't justify buying any more tools for myself. At the time I can't even think of any tools I might want. let alone need? I am watching a modem for my computer but I have it up and working with an external sooo I probably won't buy it.
