Mr. Yeung Chan - Dovetails?

Greg Deavers in Stillwater

>Mr. Chan,

Is that an optical dilusion, or is that little box dovetailed? From what I can see, it looks like in the pic.

Ought to make a nice little scrub plane!

Thanks,

Greg

>Yes, those are dovetails, and incredibly well done. It won the Professional catagory in the S.F. Bay Area Woodworker's Assoc. annual box making competetion this year. That isn't a scrub plane, either. It is a finishing plane.

>Did I see a pair of chairs built by Yueng Chan in Revenge of the Sith, in particular, in Padme's chambers? I cannot imagine who else could have built something that exquisite. They sure didn't look like they were mock-ups constructed by the props department.

>That's the Sighting on the Main Forum. You can tell because it's obviously a power tool for controlling wooden boats.

What you need to look at is the Sightings photo on the Hand Tool forum welcome page, which you don't see if you enter via the "back door".

There are also individual sighting photos updated at irregular intervals on the Turning Forum Welcome Page and on the Carving Forum Welcome Page.

>Thanks - Indeed, that's a door I'd never seen - even the 'hand tools' link on the main WC page doesn't take me there - maybe it has something to do with my settings?

>Clay,

I just did a small test...I normally use the "frames" option(upper/lower split screen)and see the sightings photos..when frames are turned off you do not see the sighting photo/frame.The setting is unique to each board,i.e. I can turn frames off for the hand tools board but they remain on for the main board.Your assumption that your settings are what is causing you not to see the pics is a correct assumption.

>I have this set with no frames and did not see the Sightings. I just hit "add frames" and it came up. Neat little plane my Mr. Chan. I wonder how it works, and how it was built. Really trips my trigger as I like miniture tools.
