piddlin around in the shop

>Here's a little box I made using mostly hand tools. The sides and bottom are M. Laurel and the top is Spalted Perssimmon. You can't tell from the pic but there are several small mistakes in it. The DT's have a few tiny gaps and you can just make out the glue line where I joined the side boards together to make a wider board.

When I resized the picture, it shrunk considerably.

Thanks, Mike G. in SC

Don't sweat the little stuff.

>I was at a Thos. Moser gallery in Chicago this Spring and there were pieces with all the little imperfections that come with handwork. The thing is my in-laws didn't see anything but I could see where the trim wasn't perfectly 45 degrees at the corner. Large carcass dovetails had tine gaps that were filled. WE see stuff that most non-WW's wouldn't know to look for. Of course I am not saying never aim for perfection! But, it will come in due course.

>That is one small photo! I cannot see any of the construction details, but the wood on the top looks interesting.

(maybe Dan can help with the re-sizing/posting)

>There is a section in the FAQ about setting up photos for posting. If you still have trouble after reading that, you can e-mail me a copy (as large as possible) and I will see what I can do.
