>I tried to pre-order the new LV honing guide of the phone this am and the very, very nice customer service rep told me that it wasn't possible but she gave me the product number. I guess ETA on it appearing on the Web is June 1?

Either way I just need to sit back and relax.

>I was on the Lee Valley website today and ordered one. It's not officially online yet. If you want to order it, you can call customer service or go to the lee valley site, go to the page for the old honing guide, throw this address in your browser

javascript:OpenProdInfo('05M0901','0','33001','1,43072,43078','buy','','2');

and hit the return key

If the price comes up as $48.50, you know you're on the right track.

Product Numbers for both items

John Todd

>Here's what I got from LV in a response from another inquiry I made:

>>The new sharpening jig has not been listed as yet due to the lack of inventory. We anticipate the stock to arrive late this week with the web updated once the stock has arrived. If the stock arrives earlier these dates could be moved up. The information for this product is 05M0901 - MK II Honing Guide. The cost for this item is $48.50 USD.

The new Veritas Bevel-Up Smoother will be in stock approximately June 7th. Similar to the sharpening jig the web will be updated once stock has arrived. The product information for this is 05P3601 - Bevel-Up Smoother Plane. The cost for this is $175.00 USD.

We are taking back orders on these items but this cannot be done on-line. Phone, fax or mail is the only way at moment to place an order.

You can reach us by phone at 1-800-871-8158, by fax at 1-800-513-7885 and by mail at PO Box 1780, Ogdensburg, NY 13669-6780.

The June Wood supplement catalog has both of these items and mailing will be starting later this week.

Gosh...

Rob Lee

>.... I don't even have to answer questions anymore.... :)

We don't normally put items up on the website until the catalog mails, or until stock is available, as we don't want to have customers showing up at the stores when we're out....

Guides are in assembly now.

Cheers -

Also, for those who prefer web orders...

Ted Owen, Pittsburgh

>If you order another product from the web site and place a notation in the "Remarks" paragraph that you would like a Mk II, it can be added at this time for backorder.

Best, Ted

Hold the pickle Hold the lettuce Special Orders ..

Eric Hedberg

>Wow, with all this preorder/hackorder interest maybe LV should install one of those on demand as you like it inventory management systems. Whatcha think Rob, then you wouldn't have to predict orders and we could special order and "have it our way";-) Eric

(Oops realized that those systems could also be set up to price for fluctuating currency exchange rates. Never mind)
