So far, so good, saw sharpening
Skip in Falls Church
>Well, so far my saw is actually starting to look like a saw. It has teeth and they are sharp. :) It took a while to get it jointed, I ended up taking about a quarter inch off the back end and probably about an eighth inch off the toe then still had one partial gullet left. I marked it out for 9 tpi - didn't have too much trouble but the marks weren't completely even.
I just got all the teeth in - they aren't all even (spacing or heigth) either, but a lot better than they were. I'm thinking about jointing it again before trying to set the teeth. It wasn't too hard at all - although it would have been better if I wasn't rushing a bit. I haven't had a lot of time the last few weeks so I've been squeezing it in between other things.
I did learn one thing - cats (at least ours) *hate* the sound of saw sharpening. They left shortly after the file touched the blade.
