Block Plane Problem
Mike MacDonald
>Recently I purchased a Made in England Stanley Low Angle block plane from LV. I've tuned it, flattened the sole, removed any burrs and tooling marks on the mating surface, flattened the iron back, made sure the iron was ground and honed square and smoothed the underside of the lever cap.
Even with all of that I need to skew the iron with the adjuster fully to the right before I can get anywhere near a full width even shaving. This seems to defeat the purpose of the adjustable mouth since while one side is tight the other is not.
Is there an easy way to correct this or should I be thinking of trying to return this plane for another?
