Another saw jointing question

>I finally got all my saw sharpening stuff in and that 16 inch skew back saw jointed. I ended up taking all the teeth off the back 3 or 4 inches and just leaving traces of the gullets on the toe of the blade. However, in looking at the remaining teeth, they are irregularly spaced - some right paired up close together with big spaces between the next set of teeth and others a single tooth with big spaces on either side then some look to be spaced okay.
My impulse is to just take all the teeth off and start from scratch. Before I did that I thought I'd see if there was any good way to handle this problem.
