ALUMO Planes?

Ernie Miller Topeka

>I saw a set of realy weard aluminum dado/rebate planes at a military secocand hand store today one was 3/16 inch blade one 1/2" and one 3/4" they are all marked ALUMO on the sid.e I went through blood and gore and found nothing like them. they are 9-10" long with a handle like a 78 or somthing. they are in a nice user made box with a 45 and a 71 they all have all the bells and whistles you would expect. any one heard of them? any one knoe the value? also what is the value of a set of #10 H&R for the #45?

#10 H&R soles

Bill Houghton, Sebastopol, CA

>They're absolutely useless, Ernie, unless they spend quality time on a regular basis with H&R soles of other sizes, like say #12s. If you'll just send them to me, I'll snuggle them down with my #12 set and improve their lives immensely.

>I've had a couple of these alumo planes over the years.Thought I had something "big" when i bought the first one but after selling it on ebay found differently...Think it went for $30 or so and other one did about the same....And this was years ago when planes were hotter on ebay then now....They are kind of neat though ...todd
