Hock replacement blades in sargent planes

>I am new in this realm, and have been starting a collection of sargent planes. (First one was my grandfathers 409C). I want to tune and use them, and am wondering if Hock a2 blades work in sargent planes, or just Stanley? Thanks in advance,

Mark

>I installed a full thickness Lie-Nielsen blade in my Sargent 409c VBM vintage plane. I was able to use it without opening the mouth. That said the adjuster was at the very limits of engagment due to the added distance between the chipbreaker and the frog. The Hock blade is not as thick so it should be an easier swap. It will also be a big improvment over the standard Sargent cutter. Let us know your results. It all adds to the knowledge base here.JR

Funny you should ask...

>Mark,

I did upgrade my #3 Sargent with a Lee-Nielsen blade, not the blade meant to replace Stanley blades, but Lee-Nielsen own blade, and I have been very happy with it, it is very thick but it did fit in there and works very well. I will post pics very soon
