LV planes new design?

>I am eagerly awaiting the release of the new LA smoother due in May. The chirf criticism of LV bench planes has been the rear tote is uncomfortbale to use for long periods of time and is better suited to someone with large hands. Does anyone know if the totes have been redesigned to address the above criticism?

take care,

>Hi Gordon -

We have done a bit of tweaking on the handles for the bevel-up planes. The largest change has been an addition of a "toe" at the front of the handle - and about 1mm more material on the leading edge...

The majority of people we surveyed preferred the new shape. Having said that - some really like the current shape, and are less enthused about the newer handle.

Any given shape will not necessarily fit all people - and I'm not convinced we're done with adjustments. We willl not, hovever, be moving that significantly from the current design (more upright, in -line with how we want force applied, and a full four finger grip).

Cheers -

Rob
