Now I know why I make planes
Steve Knight
>Its great when a plane works perfectly on the first stroke. But sometimes a plane will really shine. Usually a Japanese ironed plane stands out. I just built this puppy and I had some more of the cool quilted maple left to play with. No effort at all to plane this wood in either direction.
I still get that cool feeling at such times. Though the adjustable mouth tends to move when you remove the iron. This was a problem with the mouthblocks too on Japanese ironed planes.
