Does Rust Buddy owe me?

Todd O. Cronkhite Maine Native in FL. Exile :~(

>O.K.,last Wednesday I go to our every Wednesday morning flea market and he didn't due to other commitments. While there I spy with my little eye a nice complete, clean, nothing broken Record 4.5 for $25. Well, it just so happens that I only had $10 left in me poke, so I had to pass, BUT I knew my rust hunting buddy might be interested as I knew that he'd be able to get his ham-hock sized mitts on it pretty well so I called him and told him of it. He was unable to get it Wednesday, but he went on Friday morning when there are only a few vendors set up and dang if he didn't get it!

Well, he gets to chit-chatting with the seller and come to find out this guy has a permanet stall set up in a flea market across town, so today we went there for a look-see. Sure enough he has some rust and my buddy scored two nice old curly lipped square taper augur bits for damn near nothing. After leaving this stall we went to wondering arounf the rest of the flea market and blyme if he didn't accidently find a nice K110 block-plane. Seller wants $5 and he has the audacity to ask if she'll take $4 which she does.

So as it stands now, due to my call info'ing him of the 4.5 he has for less than $30 gotten a Record 4.5, 2 curliy lipped augur bits, and a K 110 block plane. Don't know about you all but I say he owes me pretty darn heavy right about now would'nt you?

>Can't blame your friend for your short sidedness. 1 not carying enough cash 2 telling your friend 3 not going back saturday and getting it your self. 4 not walking in front of him at the flea? it is spring Hunt and you shall find.

>I think it's dangerous to set up a balance due for a friend, unless he volunteers that he owes you big time. And even then, it would be up to him to pay you back or not.

Keeping score

Bob Hackett

>Knowing Todder as I do I think this was just a way of posting a gloat for his buddy and not a question of if he should keep a tally sheet or not.

I think if Todd felt his buddy owed him anything at all it would be a point to a table or bucket where the picking might be good.

Just thought I`d clear that point up.

Mainely,Bob-Who`s tally would have to be kept on a legal pad if Todd was really keeping score.

>No Todd is serious! that man keeps track of every deal and wheel. You should see the e-mail I got last night! And I live half way across the country. To think he can see a table with goodies that far away. Good customers you treat differantly. you list stuff they will want real high on e-bay that way when it dosent sell they will e-mail you with a low ball offer that is a reasonable proffit.

I guess I`m just going to have to ship my tools to you and let you list them for me Ernie.

Ever thought about going into the brokering business? You could be the Jolly Jon of E-bay(ask Todd he probably knows what I mean).

Mainely,Bob-Who has pictures of "Rupert`s Rust Emporium" running thru his head.

>Have one good week and I'm Ebay Ernie. It was a fun week either it sold well or not at all. I had several friends watching that 78 fence but no one from around here had thick enough blood to take it home. I'll list any thing you want 30% and needs to bring at least $25 to make it worth my while. If it dosent sell either you pay the postage back home or I keep it. if it is somthing I want it will get listed in that catagory other with all distinguishing names misspelled. somthing like Stanlliey Bedrook Hand Plan You get the idea.

>Yeah Ernie, ordinarily you'd be right, but

1). Carry enough cash? Who in the dickens EVER has enough cash when going rust hunting?

2). I didn't want this plane, just didn't blow my whistle, but knew my buddy would really like it. would of bought it for him but didn't have enough $, so I did the next best thing and info'd him of it.

3). Walking in front of your Rust Buddy. HO! HO! HO!, Let me tell you that is a skill that I hone everytime we are together. Trouble is that he is also honing his. See, until we met we went rust hunting alone so therefore neither of us had any direct competition so our out-manuvering skills where never used. Now it's a priority. Pause a second to long and next thing you know he has gotten two steps ahead of you and makes a nice score. Biggest thing I have to watch for when with him is the ol' "What's that over there" trick. He'll spy a potential box, barrel or table to the left and than point to the right and say "What's that"? and as soon as I turn to look ZOOM! he's up to his elbows in rust. I swear I still fall for that 3 times out of 5. Also I have to be aware of when I CAN'T hear him speaking. He, like I knows alot of the vendors and enjoy cutting up with them, but when he's found the goodies he's as quiet as a mouse and that's when I know he's found rust. Aye yi, yi, yi, 'tis a full time job to stay one step ahead I tell ya.

Sunday was a fair score tho. I saw this bunch of rakes standing in a barrel and I decided it wasn't worth investigating, but he did and right beside the barrel was a table that I didn't see and the K 110 was on the corner of the table.

Todd O. Cronkhite Maine Native in FL. Exile :~(

>Not to speak for anybody, but I highly doubt that it is because you're obnoxious because that is now where near true. I think it is more because the word Jolly conjurs up an image of a happy-fo-lucky individual which I feel certainly applies to you.

You and Todd are the two folks most likely to make me smile when I read your posts.Others may make me think but even when you do that you almost always make me smile too.
