>I know that posting idiotic ebay listings is easy enough to fill its own entire board, but occasionally one shows up that's such a jaw-dropper that it begs to be shared. The link below solves the age old mystery of where all those transitional planes actually came from. I can only surmise that America's heartland has had a history of a LOT of very handy people named Bailey.

Ernie Miller Topeka

>What do you expect from some one who sells dolls? The other scrub plane that she sold was also hand made by a settler. It looked loke a horned plane not a settler type item.

The metal parts, of course,

>were made in the Bessemer process casting plant and the blacksmith shop that every one of those early settlers had out in the yard, usually behind the chicken coop.

>By golly, Ernie, don't laugh at that seller's posted price! That plane, unlike all the other 5 billion other Bailey-type bench planes in the world, has got a WOODEN HANDLE AND BALL.

>Aw come on, he did saw it was usable "until a better one comes along". Can't get more honest than that, and it would be difficult to be more ignorant, too. I can't imagine someone actually thinking that this would be usable. As you said, it might be worth it for parts, but usable?! Will Rogers was right when he said "We're all ignorant, just in different areas." Thanks for the laugh.

Cheers!

Jim
