Tools for working wood

Jack Guzman from Maine

>I just got home from a trip to the big apple.I went to visit a friend in Brooklyn and had a few hours to spare on Saturday so I figured I'd drop in on Joel.Well, the trains don't run all the way to where I was so I had to take a bus and transfer. Then I got off the train about 20 blocks shy and the place was supposed to close in 20 minutes. So after wearing out my poor short legs I made it there at 3 minutes to closing.Up on the fifth floor(this was turning into quite an adventure)I found a door that said Tools For Working Wood.I met a young guy named Rich who said that Joel wasn't there.Even though he was supposed to close in 3 minutes he gave me a cheerful tour and let me play with a few toys,as well as answering a bunch of questions.

I got to handle the new mortise chisels, some of the finest planes around and see the tools in person that I've only seen on paper before.

I came away with a new auriou rasp and a few other small things.I really enjoyed my short visit and plan on going back.Sorry I missed you Joel but hopefully next time I can come when you are there.---Jack

>Sorry I missed you - we are open on Saturday from Sept 1 - May 1, but I try never to work on Saturday.

When you next come by drop me a line and I'll make sure I'm there. (I'm usually there m-f during regular hours)
