My second spoon

Warren in PA

>I made my first spoon about 40 years ago when I was a boy, using only a penknife (untimed). I wasn't expecting to ever do another.

I think the time element really made this excercise. We were forced to plan our steps out and ready our tools. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the spoons along with the tools that made them. I had to give my spoon to a friend to take pictures, so I couldn't show the tools.

Tools used: mallet, 3 gouges, turning saw, rip saw, chisel, spokeshave, clamps. No sanding.

Dimensions: 5/8 x 2 3/8 x 12 1/4

Material: American beech

Time: 45 minutes

>Wow, what a great spoon. And you only took 45 minutes! Amazing. Maybe Dick wasn't exaggerating about his hour.

>Nice work! It has one of the finest bowls of the lot, so far.
