Spoon Challenge notes

>New developments:

Ellis voiced an interest in making an article of our challenge; so jot down your process and tools to the extent you want and I'll be happy to edit them for the article. Or, if someone else wants to do the editing job, speak up.

Also, I came across a couple of extra slicks today, which I'll include in the choice in case the draw winner doesn't want Japanese.

Slick!

Greg Btit, Vergennes, VT

>I used a froe to split the blank into a rectangular section, clamped the workpiece into a leg vise and carved out the bowl with a #8 30mm bent gouge. I cleaned the bowl up with a hook knife and a scraper shaped like a french curve. I worked the outside of the bowl and handle with a drawknife, spoke shaves and flat scraper.
