Anyone recognize this??

Frank Mutchler in Colorado Springs

>I rec'd. 8 cutters ranging in size from 1/8" to 5/8" (pictured) with a recent ebay purchase. The cutters have no relationship to the plane I purchased and so I thought that maybe someone here might recognize them. TIA

Frank, who is on his way to visit the dentist :>(

>They appear possibly to be for a Stanley 41,42,43 and 44 plow plane. If indeed they are you have a complete set and are valuable. Did you also get the box they came in?

>Stanley furnished 8 cutters ranging in size from 1/8" to 5/8" with the Miller's Patent Plows. If thet are in decent shape, and are in the box, they may be worth around $300, give or take. That qualifies as a major gloat in my book. -wayne

Miller blades

Jim Reed @Tallahassee

>Looks like Stanley Miller blades to me. The blades for the #41 are 1/4" thick. Most were made under contract for Stanley and have been lost to time. Full sets are pricey. You have a great find.

>Thanks, everyone. Looks like I have no choice but to find a Miller's plow to keep those blades company.....darn it! ;>) Nope, I didn't get the box but from the comments y'all have made it looks like I can't complain too much.

CBI Syndrome

Jim Reed @Tallahassee

>There is a little known medical condition known as Collector Brain Itch or CBI Syndrome. It begins when a plane collector acquires a piece, usually a blade, of an old plane. His brain swells and itches for days and weeks. The itching does not subside until he has more pieces to complete the plane. There is no known cure as the syndrome can flare up and continue for years.
