Poll for a woodcarving board

Doug Ridley Paducah, Ky.

>I got the go-ahead from Ellis to

poll everyone to see if there is enough interest to justify a woodcarving board similar to the turning and hand tool boards. If any of you are inclined and/or know of carvers who are not now centralians, who would be interested, now is the time to speak up. We're only fishing for ideas and feedback at this point. If the consensus is that there will be enough interest, maybe it will happen.

Yes !!

>I am developing a keen intrest in carving as I was able to obtain quite a few carving chisels in a lot of old tools I bought some time ago.

The thought of ading some amount of carving to projects is very exciting to me and as the level of talent that frequents here is so high, I'm sure that such a group would be as informative as I have found the HandTools group to be.

>Yes Please!! I am very definitely a beginning carver but have done a bit of relief, lettering and furniture decoration. Carving stuff on the web is very patchy and anything that adds to or improves upon what's already out there has to be a good thing.

>I would support a specialty carving forum. We have two or three other beginning to intermediate to advanced carvers in our shop who I might cajole into participating, Here are a couple examples of their work:

I might be able to scare up a few other people around town who also do a little wood carving.

Another suggestion: There is a lot of carving talent shown on the Turning forum. Three names come to mind immediately, Andi Wolfe, Molly Winton, and Mike Schwing. You should post an invite there, if you haven't already.

You'd better reserve Mondays for a chat session :^)
