Miter Shooting Clamp question

Guy A - In Ohio

>I know that I just lurk in the backround, but I'm hoping you kind folks can answer a couple of questions.

I want to make a miter shooting clamp . . . Does anyone know of links or plans that I could research online - I'm trying but not having much luck.

Also I assume for the clamp I should use 1 to 1 1/2" dia. wood screw which I will use a tap and die for. But I have heard about using a hand saw and chisle to cut the threads . . . I would really like to have suggestions so I can learn this for larger diameter wood screws (2 to 2 1/2).

Any info or suggestions?

I will be forever in your debt . . .

Thanks

Guy A

I hope some else can point you to some good wooden screw making resources, because I am interested too.

>because I can't figure out from the drawing how it works !! What keeps the plane from planing the jig/clamp, whatever it's proper name is.

Can someone point out a site or other work that walks a person (read especially dense) through just how the fixture works in actual use??

Thanks,

Sherwood

Your care. It's the same technique you use when planing a dowel down flush.
